You can find many web designers at websites like http://getafreelnacer.com/ , you can just post your project at the website and let many web designers bid for your project.

You can hire whoever you like.

Do not pay any money afront however.

Which is the best choice for free webhosting my web page?

hi, i design my personal page, but i don%26#039;t know where can i upload. Free, no ads, no bandwith limit is better. Thanks!

Which is the best choice for free webhosting my web page?

Begin with setting up your own webpage as your current internet provider will provide free hosting as discussed below.

If you are currently a paid Internet subscriber, you are entitled to a %26quot;homepage%26quot; which often contains simple navigation and editing tools. And if you use the Netscape browser, the built-in Composer feature is a superior HTML authoring tool which is totally free. You can easily generate a full-blown website as a Homepage.

Nevertheless, the %26quot;homepage%26quot; URL is likely to be %26quot;http://homepage.earthlink.com/subscribe... name%26quot; and that URL can easily be overwritten via a redirection service, i.e., %26quot;mydomain.com%26quot; which allows you to link any registered domain name to %26quot;mask%26quot; another website. For example, should you type in the %26quot;domain name,%26quot; you will be immediately transported to the homepage and the hompage URL of http://homepage.earthlink.com/subscriber... a homepage URL which will be masked by the domain name. And the charge for the redirection service [even at godaddy.com] is normally FREE.

When you acquire a domain name, connect it using a redirection service [as discussed above] and submit/publish the domain name on major search engines/directories in order for Net surfers to find your website.

Good luck!

Your criteria can%26#039;t be met

go to the forums and then make 10 messages and then post a message in free webhosting and u get 16gb of bandwith free and like 100mb of space and no ads so yea its nice specially for free only thing is ,is that ur webpage is like whatever.srhost.info and to upload u transfer through ftp

How do I auto-populate a field and execute it on a web page I have opened from a hyper-link within m

One element of my website is a hyper-link to the following web address...

http://www.nsandi.com/products/pb/haveYo...

If you have a look you%26#039;ll see that it is a singular field requiring the input of a member%26#039;s number then a click on the %26#039;GO%26#039; button besides to the right.

I have it set up so it opens a new Tab/Window....

My question is: How do I go about auto-populating this data field and executing accordingly from the singular click from within the web page within my site?

I don%26#039;t presently use a design package off the shelf, I use 1and1.co.uk%26#039;s website builder plus application. Apparently I can enter my own code within the make up of my pages so if anybody has any ideas as to how to go about this ie: What code I would have to enter, I would be most grateful if your post your replies and help me on my merry way!

Thanks for your assistance in advance!

Web Designers paycheck...?

My grandfather has decided to hire me to do some work for his internet business. He is wondering if I want to be paid by the project or by the hour, and how much. I have no idea. Does anyone know how much someone usually gets paid to design web pages?

Web Designers paycheck...?

I get the specs for the job first, then make an estimate, and give that to my client (potential). If agreed upon, I get paid 50% up front, 50% on finish.

I don%26#039;t work for family, that only can cause problems, but it%26#039;s your choice what to do, I would say whatever benefits you personally. I%26#039;d lean towards hourly for working for family if he wants to pay you.

Web Designers paycheck...?

It is $15-$50 per web page(varies based on whether it is simple htmpl, php or flash)

Your grandfather can get cheaper web designer at websites like http://getafreelnacer.com/ as well :-)

Where can I learn webiste design?

I want to learn how to design web pages

Where can I learn webiste design?

W3schools is a great place to learn just about every script related to webpages you can think of.

http://w3schools.com

Of course, thats only if you plan on learning the scripting languages themselves. (If you know the scripting languages, you only need a text editor as your page editor ;) )

Where can I learn webiste design?

(assuming you want more than the crappy %26quot;FREE%26quot; design your own website options that are out there)

You need a website design program to start with. I use Adobe GoLive. I bought a book (Adobe Classroom in a book) and it was an interactive tutorial. For example, it will say open a new page, and you do that step. Each chapter covers a new area of the program. When you are done, you should have a good basic idea of how to create a basic website (no java - scripts - or other advanced stuff).

It helps very much if you have a basic concept of design, or are at least comfortable with a computer. If you have no idea whatsoever, I would then suggest you start out at a local Adult Education class where you could get more %26quot;basic%26quot; instruction.

Good luck

I want to be a good web designer. How long does it take?

to learn all the computer languages I need to know. I know html that is all. What else do I need to learn (like java) and how long does it take to learn all this stuff. Also what exactly is C++, MySql, etc and is it necessary to learn to design web pages? I appreciate all advice because I have just begun a web desin course and want to do this as my future career.

I want to be a good web designer. How long does it take?

I%26#039;ve been a website designer for 10 years and worked on some major sites that I%26#039;m sure you%26#039;ve been to. Here are my experiences in response to your question...

What else do I need to learn (like java) and how long does it take to learn all this stuff?

----------------------------

You need to learn basic principles of color and design layout. You can get a good handle on this in a couple of months but you will always be learning as you apply it. You will also need to learn javascript (which is like java, but easier) and ASP (which is a language for writing code also). This will take you longer. 4-6 months or so to get a good working handle on both of them. You will also want to learn Photoshop for designing images. This will take you the longest amount of time, but it%26#039;s well worth it.

Also what exactly is C++, MySql, etc and is it necessary to learn to design web pages?

----------------------------

C++ is a programming language. Although I know C++ I have never once used it in the design or implementation of a web page. Stick with javascript and ASP like I outlined above and you%26#039;ll be fine. MySql is a database program like Microsoft Access or SQL Server. This is another one of those programs that would be good to know, but not critical to work as a web designer.

I appreciate all advice because I have just begun a web desin course and want to do this as my future career.

----------------------------

This makes a good career. I really enjoy it. The pay is good and it%26#039;s a lot of fun. You get to be creative and solve problems at the same time. Best of both worlds. Send me an email or IM if you have any other questions, and good luck!

I want to be a good web designer. How long does it take?

It all really depends upon what you want your web pages to do. If you are going to create web applications you need to know PHP, SQL, JavaScript.

It takes time to learn all these things, there is no real way to put a timeline together for how long it could take. The best way to learn about web design is to try it and test it out. HTML is a must but you also need to learn CSS. You really don%26#039;t need to learn C++ or Java for web design, unless you plan on encorporating computer programming into your web design.

There is a great tutorial for web design with soo much information on so many different language types:

Go Here: http://www.w3schools.com/default.asp

You will learn alot of the basics in your web design course, the basics of HTML, and possibly CSS. You said you want this to be your future career, well then I would suggest learning

HTML, CSS, PHP, SQL, AJAX, JavaScript or VBScript and possibly XML

Best Wishes with your course and your future

Other Replys:Buy dreamweaver. Since you%26#039;re a student, you get substantial discount. Then get a dreamweaver book from your local library. You%26#039;ll be able to design small business and basic informational websites in no time. When it comes to large scale e-commerce sites and database integration (MySQL is a database), that might take a little longer (about a year).

What would they call a profession where writing and graphic design are combined?

I have a Bachelors degree in English but to continue, my heart is not only on writing but graphic or visual communication, such as backgrounds and layouts for brochures and ads, photo touch ups, and even designing web pages. I always thought that enhancing print with visual aids would be worthwhile.

Is there a particular area for this, would it be classified under Communication Arts or Multimedia design? And is it possible to double major in graduate school?

What would they call a profession where writing and graphic design are combined?

What would they call a profession where writing and graphic design are combined?

Other Replys:Technical communications is one such field; communications another. Both are available in graduate schools. There are crossovers in grad schools, but, insofar as I can tell, doubling in grad school is less than wonderful as a way to live. The University of Tennessee has graduate curricula in both fields.

What is the best web design software for a novice using a PC?

I have registered a few domain names through godaddy and I would like to design some custom websites that are better than just the plain page with the blue links. Is there software that is good for a beginner and has pretty powerful web tools? Also, what do I have to do on godaddy%26#039;s end to have my website displayed on the internet. Do they have a page and/or size limit?

Microsoft%26#039;s Front Page is finished. There is no current version. Drewamweaver is the industry standard. However, it is expensive and you are a novice. Use the free, open source package, NVU. It%26#039;s development environment is similar to Dreamweaver%26#039;s so if you ever feel the need to power up, you will already be comfortable working that way.

Freelance Web Design?

Hey. I%26#039;ve decided to become a freelance web designer and I%26#039;m currently designing my website. I have the web design skills, but the thing that I am lacking in is the business skills. I%26#039;m going to be offering quotes based on the work that they want done. What sort of prices should I charge? How should I work out what I charge per project?

I%26#039;m also going to have a support forum which customers get access to when they pay for my services. I%26#039;m also considering letting people who have not paid for my services join, for a small fee. How much should this be?

I%26#039;m going to charge less for sites that include my link at the bottom of each page. Is there any security that I can apply to the pages to prevent anyone from going against this agreement? Also, how much less shoul I charge them for this?

Last question... is there any free application that I can use to allow them to edit text and images easily within their website?

Thanks for any sensible answers.

Freelance Web Design?

In reverse order of your questions:

GIMP is free if they want to edit graphics.

They%26#039;re going to pay you to create a site for them. Do you think they will have time to make alterations to remove your logo? Sooner or later they will want modifications are you will be first choice if you did a good job. If they didn%26#039;t think you%26#039;d done a good job in the first place they%26#039;d have no hesitation in bad mouthing you. Either way verbal recommendations will work far better than hyperlinks.

Hints %26amp; tips forum. Do you think you%26#039;ll have time to run something like that? You%26#039;ll be too busy creating and support the sites you%26#039;ve already got commissioned.

Charge by the hour. If something you do takes more time, then let the client know. Hide nothing in your billing. If client has supplied layouts, graphics and copy and all you have to do is assemble it into a page it will take you far less time than if you had researched it all yourself. Start at $25 an hour. If you get a good reputation and get more work than you can cope with, raise your price. Good work will be its own reward.

Good luck.

Freelance Web Design?

You should charge based on the effort you%26#039;re putting and time of the project. I%26#039;ve seen a wide range of web designer rates from $25-$50 per hour. You have consider what you have to offer as well, are you just doing graphics and design or do you have skills in ASP .NET and scripting languages like PHP and javascript.

Editing text and graphics is easiest done by using some kind of XML structure that you load the text and images from. That way the website owner can just edit an xml to affect changes to their main page.

Other Replys:check out what other firms are offering for their services..usually 鎷?50 minimum for a site. Also depends on who does the site maintenance.

Other Replys:See what other freelances are charging.

The hardest part is getting off the ground. Once you have satisfied customers they give word of mouth referrals.

Start out charging cheap prices to get customers then later on you can raise them. Some designers do a few sites for free or very low cost in exchange for a link on the site + word of mouth referrals to get off the ground.

Other Replys:Don%26#039;t try and re-invent the wheel!

Example, creating an e-book which tell people how you could proceed to create or design a websites, or creating information on this area and input into your websites, making your websites to be a paid website instead and many other.

Where can I get good advice on web site design?

I know that Dreamweaver is the best program to get and I can learn to use it, but I would like guidance on the actual design process and how Dreamweaver can aid it, along with Do%26#039;s and Don%26#039;ts on web design. What is the best way to actually go about designing etc. Dreamweaver will obviously start you off with a blank page, I want to learn how to start creating great pages.

Where can I get good advice on web site design?

You can learn from a number of websites tips and tricks to help you along - I%26#039;m sure that a google search would bring up quite a few very quickly - HOWEVER, speaking from experience, forget the websites that people will offer you and do one of two things:

a) Go to your local college and sign up for a course in web design. Make sure the course covers Dreamweaver and *not* MS Frontpage. If the course is still teaching Frontpage (known in the business as being an absolute no-no), it is likely that any other tips they will give you will also hinder rather than help.

OR

b) If you%26#039;re really serious about getting into web design, there is no better place to learn than on the job. Many web design companies hire %26quot;junior web designers%26quot; who only have a basic understanding of the methodology, so that they can mould them and train them into how they like to work. Each web company has different practices, so more often than not you will find that nowadays the majority of web jobs available are junior positions. There is no subsititute for learning this way....no training course, no book and *definitely* no website.

If you don%26#039;t want to choose a career in web design, then definitely consider the night course route. Get yourself on a decent training course and learn how to do things professionally.

Good luck!

Web Design @ http://www.creatorshive.com

This one is for small business owners. Not web design firms please. How much would you pay for a web

How much would you be willing to pay for a website that is more than just basic. I know you can set up a free website or design your own and host it for about 10 bucks a month. But are there small business owners who would like to have a professional website (that can handle a shopping cart and credit cards, provide search functionality, let users register on the site, etc.) but are put off since it is more complicated than what they can do on Front Page and more expensive than what they can afford to have a web design company do?

This one is for small business owners. Not web design firms please. How much would you pay for a web site?

Hard to say, because I would love to know this as well.

I could not afford $1,200 for just the design, but there are aspects that I would like.

I would like it if a company could augment what I already have and charge per item. To explain a little better, I can do the backgrounds, the titles, the links, the content, I can even provide pictures, but I would want someone who could help do more with the pictures than just rollovers.

For this, I might pay $50 to $75 - There is no design work and it is a one time fee, unless I change the pictures.

For a complete package like you are talking about - with shopping cart, I guess, a 20+ page site around $50 a page.

I personally, still could not afford it with how small my business is. It would take me moving to the next level with an actual location and a small business loan to think about it.

What you talk about is great and I am interested - visit www.inspiredtouches.com, but like I said - my payout would be limited right now.

This one is for small business owners. Not web design firms please. How much would you pay for a web site?

in U.S. it would cost 49.95 one time and 49.95 a month.

Other Replys:We paid $1250 for our website, although the %26quot;designer%26quot; really wasn%26#039;t a %26quot;designer%26quot;, but a tecky who knew how to program. He was kind of new at it. We definitely got our money%26#039;s worth, but take a look at our website and see if it%26#039;s close to what you want. I also got a basic on-line quote from another web designer, and it was about $1200 for the parameters I chose, however, I%26#039;m sure we wouldn%26#039;t have gotten as much as we got with the one we went with. Good luck!

Oh yea - it%26#039;s about $100/year + for hosting.

Other Replys:If you can afford $20 to $40 a month, you can find some good webmasters.

But I highly suggest that you go and study it your self. It%26#039;s very simple! I made my own site at http://www.iandelcarmen.com and many more other sites: http://www.digibook.ph , http://www.digibooknetwork.com , http://www.MobileEbooks.net ...

If I post all my sites here, it would consume so much space. You may just visit my site http://www.iandelcarmen.com and check it out. I made in in just 5 minutes and I learned just by reading some nice books. Contact me at Help Desk and I%26#039;ll send you some free books on this subject...

Web design assistance?

My boyfriend is trying to put together a website for a business idea. He has started a page but is having trouble with the intricacies of it. Is there a service that will assist him rather than do it for him? Or are there any cost efficient services for web design anyone can suggest??

Web design assistance?

He can register and post questions in the right sections of this forum for help:

http://WebDeveloper.com/

Ron

Web design assistance?

If he dosent know much about web programign id suggest a program like blue voda to make a website but if he does, he could find a web programing forum to ask questions tehre are lots out there.

Other Replys:I can to give him this service .. and the cost is depending on his idea .

Other Replys:I%26#039;m sure there are tons of consulting services out there for web development. However, if you are only asking for assistance it%26#039;s not worth the money. Utilize the web as a resource, but that is just my opinion. It really depends what kind of assistance you are looking for. Some services provide specific areas of different coding languages, graphics, etc.... You need to be more specific on what you need.

Other Replys:Maybe he should use a free website builder, like zzaazz.com. You can create a website without having to have the technical knowledge, and he can update it himself without depending on a web designer.

Other Replys:That%26#039;s a huge question - I mean where are you based there are millions of companies and services across the world.

What kind of site? I mean if it%26#039;s pretty basic then there a whole host of free options and some affordable software solutions.

Is the website e-commerce, database driven?

If so then he is better off asking who built the website of someone he already knows - word of mouth and personal recommendations are best.

If it%26#039;s fairly simple then he could go for a web-based solution like myspace (not very business like) or even yahoo has a really simple web hosting package for small business - links below.

If using a mac then can sign up to Dot Mac which again requires little web design knowledge.

For software the best I have found for windows is Netobjects Fusion - it is powerful and allows the user to create a fulll-on website in a couple of hours and handles all the CSS and scripting and database side of things - I have not find a decent cheap affordable solution for Mac - Dreamweaver is not for beginners.

Hope that helps

Other Replys:This question would have better detailed answers if the question was not so general. Is he having coding issues with the layout of the page? Are linking the pages to other pages the problem? Graphics? Would love you help you out, however it is impossible to answer such a general question.

Other Replys:You can find many web designers at websites like http://getafreelnacer.com/ , you can just post your project at the website and let many web designers bid for your project.

You can hire whoever you like.

Do not pay any money afront however.

Web design programmes?

I%26#039;m looking for a free web design programme, where I don%26#039;t have to understand html coding to be able to create a page. Does anyone know one thats good?

Web design programmes?

NVU is the most popular free, open-source WYSIWYG page editor. You can download it from http://www.nvu.com/

Web design programmes?

you can also try yahoo site builder - it works great also.

1st Page 2000 is a very decent freebie http://www.buildwebsite4u.com/cgi-bin/t....

NVU is getting rave reviews as well...link is in the previous answer posted up above.

Good luck

Other Replys:i recommend just learn html.. thats what i did, i got a notebook and wrote down the basics of how to set up tables and the page... its funny at first but it might be a useful skill.

Web Design Help!?

im creating a website for my parents restaurant and im just getting back into web design so everything is a little rusty. Im trying to insert a picture to the left of the page and then have text be able to write next to it like paragraph form. Kinda hard to describe but i hope someone understands. Im using dreamweaver but can insert text of thats the only way someone knows.

Web Design Help!?

Extremely simple.

%26lt;img src=%26quot;myimage.jpg%26quot; style=%26quot;float:left; margin:0px 10px 10px 0px%26quot; /%26gt;

%26lt;p%26gt;This is some text that will be next to the image. If the length of the text used is deeper than the height of the image it will wrap underneath it.%26lt;/p%26gt;

%26lt;p%26gt;You dont even need the margin commands but they make a nice space so your image is not hard up against the text.%26lt;/p%26gt;

Web Design Help!?

I am not sure what you are after but dreamweaver allows you to change the alignment of a picture with the adjoining text by right clicking on the graphic. I generally use tables to better control the positioning of text and graphics on the page.

When designing Web pages for your company, what are the prime considerations that you would adopt?

I would advise you to stick with the Basics, Nothing too fancy (unless requested). The reason is compatability.

I also like to keep the images small because it is more bandwith friendly

When designing Web pages for your company, what are the prime considerations that you would adopt?

First of all, I would first create a color combination. the best color combination you can achieve is looking at the color of the logo of your company. Ofcourse, you%26#039;re not limited with that.

Second is the color limitation, Make it a maximum of 5 colors. And always use a readable font color over background.

Then the concept art. Always look on the other sites. See their cons and pros. Learn from others.

Design what you think is right. The best color for a company website is always white background to light gray, but that%26#039;s just a personal suggestion.

Some of the sites I%26#039;ve created are at the altriontechnologies.com portfolio

here%26#039;s some samples:

http://www.broadlinesolutions.net

http://www.evergladesboatsclub.com

http://www.southportclub.com

http://www.southportclub.com/cars

Avoid too many flash on the site, it tend to drive out visitors (unless its an integral part of your site)

When designing Web pages for your company, what are the prime considerations that you would adopt?

the important factor is colours and table layout and photo copyright - better create a photo by your digital camera and designing -, and housekeeping of files and backup of files.

also, the validity of the information on the website.

minimise animations where possible.

mercury of love

When designing Web pages for your company, what are the prime considerations that you would adopt?

First I would lay out the web pages in a table of contents... the best tool for this is visio but if you know how to make a flow chart in another manner that would work too.

Address your target market and sales benefits. Decide what you want the site to do and build the structure around that... are you selling product? you may want to include a store area, and so on.

Once you%26#039;ve got your map... then start thinking about what goes where.... are you a designer? Do you know HOW to build a site? I use Photoshop to build my sites as I%26#039;m an Adobe Certified Expert and I can build em quick in PS.

It%26#039;s probably a good idea to hire a pro to do your design/build.

Then it%26#039;s on to slicing... HTML coding.... and back end building....Don%26#039;t use animation for the sake of having animation... be sure that page weights are lower than 60K and keep it simple.

I know this is an oversimplification of the steps involved.... but I hope this helps.

Best,

Adam

When designing Web pages for your company, what are the prime considerations that you would adopt?

Design of Page, Content Material and Simple and Faster Navigation of Website.

www.imwebdesigner.com

When designing Web pages for your company, what are the prime considerations that you would adopt?

U must put atleast 3 frames,,,

including some DHTML effects,,,radiobuttons,,,,hover buttons,,,ad managers,,,a marquee,,,,,,,,,,and use javascripting for all the validation!!!!!!!

Other Replys:Make the pages easy to navigate. Also don%26#039;t charge to get /give help info. I went to a %26quot; %26quot; free help site one time then they wanted a credit card number just to give help. If you can, make an area in which people can contact you and ask questions and you can give back info. In this ask question area make sure it is a secure site so 3rd parties can%26#039;t get your personal info., such as a phone number or email address.

Other Replys:First things as a web developer you should try to do:

1 - Cross browser compatability. Make it work in Opera, Firefox and IE5, 6 and 7 (don%26#039;t exclude IE/Mac). IE is crap, so don%26#039;t make the site around IE.

2 - Accessibility. Make sure your images have alt tags, and text links are available for people browsing wihtout images. Where possible keyboard navigation. Also keep a high contrast stylesheet for users who may be visually impaired.

Putting your alt tags and titles, etc makes your website more search engine friendly.

3 - Valid, clean semantic markup. Keep it clean, and avoid excessive markup. If your pages validate at w3c then you shouldn%26#039;t need any hacks/workarounds.

4 - Avoid hacks / workarounds. If you need to use them, you are doing something wrong.

5 - Content is not your worry - unless you agreed to write it - just focus on the design and implementation.

6 - Don%26#039;t limit yourself to one design. Let your boss / client choose from 6 or 7.

7 - Take pride in your work.

Other Replys:Even though you recently published your domain name on major major search engines/directories, you may want to consider some simple algorithms which, when observed and committed in designing of a website and placing various critical metatags can surely achieve a high search engine presence and placement.

Design: Should you create an extensive Flash-based website, make sure to fill-in the property entries such as the Title, Description and Keywords. Failing to do so, leaves no hard HTML or ALT resource that can be readily indexed by search robots.

A non-Flash-based website which relies on hard text, is far easier to be indexed by search robots.

Avoid use of frames since any number of search robots are unable to properly classify textual material.

Placement of Metatags:

A ranking or search order does take place with Google and Yahoo and it begins with the Title metag which should consist of no more than 65 characters separated by commas. The Title should describe in generic terms, the goods and services, followed by a location from which the resource is located, i.e., city, state. The placement of a domain name which is not generic within the Title is not appropriate, unless your domain name is a major recognizable brand name.

The second metatag is the Description which is usually 25-30 words to form a complete sentence which best describes the goods and services.

And the very last category - Keywords are also somewhat limited to 15-16 words which can be plural and compound in nature. Again, avoid multiple entries which could be mistaken as %26quot;spamdexed entries%26quot; which is defined as the loading, and submission of repetitive words into a particular metatag category. %26quot;Spamdexing%26quot; when discovered on a webpage and reported to Google%26#039;s spamreport.com can result in the elimination of your website from their search directory.

Here%26#039;s an example of a very highly-placed website on Yahoo.com: Begin with the search query %26quot;pizza downtown los angeles.%26quot; It will bring up some 1.4 million+ websites as results. Check out where %26quot;Pizza Next Door%26quot; is ranked. It%26#039;s in the Top Five! Again, Pizza Next Door%26#039;s high web presence was achieved by proper web design and placement of relevant metatags according to Yahoo%26#039;s publication guidelines. Good luck!

When designing Web pages for your company, what are the prime considerations that you would adopt?

Hi there, the answer need to be systematic, cos if it it too general then very hard to understanding. This question must be applicable to a staff opinion, what is the prime consideration that he or she will think of.

When designing Web pages for your company, what are the prime considerations that you would adopt?

The most effective way to advertise on the Internet is to first set up a website and publish its domain name on major search directories such as Google.com, Yahoo.com [at http://www.google.com/addurl/?continue=/... and MSN.com since 85% of Internet shoppers rely on these search directories to provide them with goods and services. In a sense, these search directories are a very large Internet Yellow Pages.

You may want to consider some simple algorithms which, when observed and committed in designing of a website with placement of various critical metatags that can surely achieve a high search engine presence and increase Internet traffic to your website. These metatag strategies work well with published webpages at Google and Yahoo.

Limit the use of stylized text saved as .gifs since as a graphic, they are not indexable by search robots.

Avoid use of frames since any number of search robots are unable to properly classify textual material.

When designing Web pages for your company, what are the prime considerations that you would adopt?

Too many variables...

Is the site for sales, customer service, advertising, all of the above?

Do you want a site that turns out to be an expensive electronic billboard/yellow pages listing, or do you want a sales tool?

How is your product/service priced? Fixed, variable, bidded on?

When designing Web pages for your company, what are the prime considerations that you would adopt?

the main thing is accessibility. As of late 2004 all commercial sites in the western world must meet W3C guidelines level one. In the UK, now all public sector sites must reach level 2. By not making your site accessible to those with special needs you are cutting out a significant proportion of your customer base.

Also. Make sure that critical data is always visible in the main window without having to scroll down...

Make sure that the most common tasks (purchasing an item for example) are done in the least possible steps. I recommend testing your designs out on ur gran and ask her where she would go to buy a certain product (example)

When designing Web pages for your company, what are the prime considerations that you would adopt?

1. Relevant content

2. Ease of navigation

3. Good typography

When designing Web pages for your company, what are the prime considerations that you would adopt?

The prime considerations are usability, usability, and usability.

Read %26quot;Don%26#039;t Make Me Think: A Common Sense Approach to Web Usability,%26quot; by Steve Krug. It is the best available guide. Every web designer should read it before they create a single site. I%26#039;m not kidding. It%26#039;s that good.

Here%26#039;s the listing on Amazon - http://www.amazon.com/Dont-Make-Me-Think...

Or look in your local library.

Other Replys:A proper statment about your company

Other Replys:I know when I was working on creating a website for an organization I worked for Accessibility was a HUGE issue. Website need to function for as many people as possible. So consider what differently abled people might be using your site and figure out what it is you need to do to make it accessible to them, or you could lose the business.

Also asthetics is huge; it needs to appeal to the person viewing it. It also needs to be organized and functional. If people can%26#039;t find what they are looking for quickly it becomes extremely frustratong and they will decide to look elsewhere.

Some good advice I was given when I was working on website projects was look at your favourite websites and see what they have in common. Find websites that you hate and figure out what it is you hate about them. Also check out a desktop publishing book. It might give you some tricks and ideas on how to make your site the most useful and appealing.

Best of luck!

I have a yahoo web starter page for castilloroofs.com. how do i make a link and post pictures for pe

i%26#039;m new to this. i have pictures of houses scanned into my computer and want to create a link that people visiting my web site can click onto and view the work that i%26#039;ve done. then click on the picture to enlarge it. all i have through yahoo is the domain registration and they provided the format for the starter page. do i need to download special programs to design my own home page and create links (about us, designers, contractors, pictures, etc.)? or is that available through the yahoo control panel? mainly, what i want to do immediately, is post my pictures on my web site under a link on my home page.

I have a yahoo web starter page for castilloroofs.com. how do i make a link and post pictures for people to se

I have the exact same starter page as you - http://www.nhcomputerservice.com . With our level of service from Yahoo! we only get the one page and nothing else. There are three easy options available to you:

1) Upgrade your service with Yahoo! and select an option that comes with storage space. The next level up for us is $11.95/month with 5GB of storage. Starting with this level, you will get a whole new web editing tool with file upload, image management, the works. Go to where can edit your page and click on Enhance Your Service - bottom left.

2) The other option for you is to forward your domain to another place on the web. For instance, if you are a high-speed Internet subscriber (cable, DSL, whatever) your probably have about 25MB storage space available to you from your provider. The your provider%26#039;s homepage for information about your personal pages. Almost all come with some sort of website builder for free, although limited in space.

3) Forward your domain to a free web service like geocities.com and create your pages there. Problem with this is almost all free hosting sites come with additional advertising that you probably don%26#039;t want.

Feel free to contact me if you have questions!!!

I have a yahoo web starter page for castilloroofs.com. how do i make a link and post pictures for people to se

I would guess there is a HTML Page editor and a file uploader. Upload your work - get the adress and then if you want to create a link on your site use the following code replasing the relvent bits:

%26lt;a herf=%26quot;work.jpg%26quot;%26gt;Click here to see my work%26lt;/a%26gt;

This also works with any formate such as pdf%26#039;s and word docs

or insert an image using

%26lt;img src=%26quot;work.jpg%26quot; alt=%26quot;My Work /%26gt;

View the Most Recent Beat somewhere along the home page (Exclusive Beat of the day)

Bio Section

Pics

Contact

Links and Affiliates

I%26#039;m of course open to all types of suggestions. I%26#039;ve seen some pages for other production companies and haven%26#039;t really seen too many professional looking pages. I%26#039;m a firm believer in %26quot;your first impression is your last%26quot; therefore i would like something that would stick to a possibly client.

PLEASE!!!!! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Looking for affordable good quality web design?

well, if you%26#039;re looking for someone REALLY cheap, try hitting up the local college graphic design department. talk to kids there, or teachers, and they can probably recommend someone that will do a great job for a tiny amount of money, since they are still in school.

Looking for affordable good quality web design?

try www.1and1.com

In htlm Web Design, how do you get your pages to fit exactly in the browsers?

What does your design look like. but setting table%26#039;s width to 100% is not always good. If you do make the outside table 100% wide, avoid using images within the page bigger than 720pixels and smaller than 640pixels or have a cell width set to that, Have a nested centered table about 550pixels for content.

Check this page out.

http://www.woodburn.k12.or.us/WHS_web/in...

I would also recommend using a centered table with a width of 740pixels and fitting you content in it. Again setting the page width to 100% is not always effective. check the site above, it displays well on resolutions at 800 by 600 and higher.

In htlm Web Design, how do you get your pages to fit exactly in the browsers?

set you table widths to 100% - you need a repeating background image in your header or a solid cell color.

In htlm Web Design, how do you get your pages to fit exactly in the browsers?

It depends on your background. The browser would automatically make the pages fit in the browser whether the user minimizes or maximizes the page. However, if your background is pretty big, then the user will have a scrollbar.

With tables, you can just set the width on the table so that it will always be a constant size, but you cant automatically make a page fit in the browser if youre using a custom background. If you dont have any background at all, then it will automatically fit it.

Rates for web design?

I%26#039;m setting rates for my web design business and am really surprised for the range in which rates vary from firm to firm. I%26#039;ve been quoted $300 to $2500 for a basic 5 page site. And the funny thing is, the prices don%26#039;t match the quality! Some great designers are charging low rates and some crappy designers charge huge rates! How do I determine what to charge?? (And please, serious answers only!)

Rates for web design?

I should think that 5 pages of basic web design should be close to $200.

$300 to $2500 is outragous!

Rates for web design?

I usually figure how much I want to get paid per hour and then estimate how many hours a job will take to complete. Some pages have alot more going on than others.. I wouldn%26#039;t charge the same for an html page as I would for like a jsp or asp page. Make sense?

Other Replys:I charge $50 an hour for web design, software tutoring and PC repairs

Other Replys:I charge $75/Hr. and I include setting up registration and hosting and make one submission to each of the important search engines. The cost per page or site should be a function of the complexity and the amount of creativity you put into it. At one end might be a site for a restaurant where you would have menues and perhaps a photo or two. At the other end might be a virtual store or a site for a real estate company with lots of photos and Virtual Tours, links to Multiple Listing, etc. and a searchable database.

What is the best free website page template, designing, editing & publishing software for a begi

i have purchased domain name but want to host website myself through any such software.. can u plz name any such software (web page editing, designing template) that can help me as i hav no technical knowledge of these matters.

What is the best free website page template, designing, editing %26amp; publishing software for a beginner?

Some free web hosts may provide a website template builder. Unfortunately, when you move your site, you often cannot take your site design with you to another host. The templates are usually licensed for use only on that particular host.

Perhaps a better approach is to download a template from a website like

Open Source Web Templates

http://www.oswd.org/

and then use a free web editor like Nvu. You can find a beginner%26#039;s tutorial for using Nvu here:

You can host your website for free here

There will be no Pop Ups or ADS shown on your website. Their hosting services are really awesome.

Other Replys:If you currently are a web subscriber, your current provider offers a homepage into which you can FTP your current webpage(s) [which can be authored/designed using Composer [an authoring tool which is free when using Netscape browser], NotePad, MSN Word, FrontPage, DreamWeaver, etc.] and use the homepage hosting services. In a sense, you are hosting a commercial webpage via the homepage link and incurring merely the monthly access of, say, AOL.com, etc. Nevertheless, should you want to link your current domain name to the homepage URL, you%26#039;ll need to use a third-party redirection service, i.e., mydomain.com [which is free] or simply direct your domain name registry, i.e., godaddy.com to forward your domain name [with masking] to the link it to your homepage URL. It%26#039;s that simple.

Good luck!

How do i get into designing web pages, where i can put different themes and music on them?

something like music pages

How do i get into designing web pages, where i can put different themes and music on them?

Your question is a massive can of worms that yahoo answers cannot properly contain if you open up.

Simply put though...you can get into designing websites by purchasing some server space to host them, and getting a simple html editor..

From there, get a template and mess around with it until you learn html. After that, learn some more languages...java and php are great to know.

Music pages and their ilk is something you should worry about in a year or two after you learn the basics.

Easiest way to design a full web site?

I don%26#039;t like web design, but I can%26#039;t seem to avoid it, unless I want to pay someone else a ton of money to do it for me. It%26#039;s just so complicated and confusing. What%26#039;s the easiest way for a dope to create a website? Not just the front page, but additional pages as well.

Easiest way to design a full web site?

You must know HTML; it is a web scripting language. If you want to learn HTML visit www.w3schools.com Then you write your code and save them in your computer and then you have to buy a domain like www.yourname.com and also a server space to upload and save your file(s) in there internet.

There are many free hosting services available on internet. But no free domain name registrars. (visit www.blazonhosting.com and check the prices. It is about US$9 -10)

If you do not know HTML , there are many programs with graphical user interface.(Dreamwever, Frontpage) They let you to drag and drop your items within the page and it will automatically generate the HTML code for you.

If you want more details contact. I m a webmaster too...

Other Replys:If you are just trying to get a grip on web designing then i suggest you take a look at a few existing sites that have similar quantity of content like the web site you are designing.

Choose one of them and take a screenshot of it by hitting Print Screen(PrtScr) on your keyboard. Its somewhere next to the F12 key on your keyboard assuming you are not on a laptop.

Now open Photoshop and Ctrl+N. Leave the settings as it is and click OK.

Then Ctrl+V

You have the site that you want to use as inspiration on the canvass.

Before assuming that I m asking you to copy a site straight off, please understand I m just suggesting you a technique that subconsciously helps you into creating your own well designed sites.

In this case we ll only use the layout AS IT IS. So if you are using a site like www.yahoo.com then you d only take the layout as a layout for your site. Which means, you will have a wide header under which there are 3 columns with

-the first one for the vertical list of menus like 360 degrees, Answers, Autos, Chat etc.

-second for tabbed content

-and third for interactive menus for Mail Messenger Radio etc.

These 3 columns are followed by the footer area for more links and copyright statement.

Now what YOU do is:

1. Ctrl+R (activates the rulers)

2. Press V on your keyboard to activate the Select tool

3. Drag out guides from the ruler to the canvas and divide the canvass based on the image we grabbed from Yahoo

4. Now your guides should be having clearly divided areas.

5. Create new layers for every section of the division (Header, 3 Column and Footer

6. The content of these new layers should be stuff that YOU make, remembering to put text where there was text in the screenshot and images or buttons where there were buttons in the screenshot.

7. The images you put there, which include, the logo, the buttons and the pictures, should be YOURS, they should cover the Yahoo screenshot.

8. Now if u make the Yahoo screenshot invisible, you can only see your stuff. Believe it or not, IT WILL LOOK GOOD and WONT LOOK LIKE YAHOO.

Why? Because you used a layout of a site which was carefully designed. You put your own graphics and images. There are many sites that teach u to make buttons which is easy to find.

Just to make the above site a bit more better. Take an image from your hard drive(any good image that you like for its colors) and take some time to select its main colors. Note them down and maybe have 3 to 4 main colors from your fav image and use these 3 to 4 colors ONLY to create the color combination for your site.

The example I mention here is not asking you to RIP OFF a site, its just suggesting you to take the layout of the site. If you substitute Yahoo with some other better designed site, the results will be awesome and the site wont look the same as the colors AND the images and logo will be DIFFERENT.

All this will help you understand that the layout of a site is possibly one of the greatest contributor to a wonderfully designed website. As you move on making sites like this, you ll have a subconscious understanding of great layouts and then you wont need screenshots.

The site that you use as a guide for your own design will also provide a guide to the rest of the pages.

I need an opinion on my web design project.?

Good job Krista, I like it. Of course, I already told you my opinion on msn. Lol. If I were making it, I would put like a light brown colour like a box%26#039;s or sand, and make it look like a tile (with texture, kinda like a book%26#039;s or something) and make it repeat across the background. But other than that, it%26#039;s nice. But that%26#039;s my opinion if I were the one making it. But I like it! Good luck with your project! It%26#039;s not like Ms. McEdward%26#039;s going to be shunning all your mistakes. Good effort!

Edit:

One of you guys (not mentioning) are going too harsh on her... It%26#039;s just the beginning of the year and she%26#039;s just going to start and take this course. She is new to it. She is in grade 10, and I can say that most people might not be able to design such a thing in our grade. You can see her effort, and that%26#039;s what our teacher also marks us on. So if you have to criticize, please say it in a nicer way. I%26#039;m not saying don%26#039;t criticize, because criticism helps people, but please use constructive criticism.

I need an opinion on my web design project.?

looking good! keep it up! ey!

Other Replys:Layout looks pretty good, but alot of people don%26#039;t like music playing right when they bring up a page with now way to stop it. You might want to consider embedding a player in the page to allow people to stop the music, should they not want it.

Looks pretty good, good framing used for the text and seperating of the links and body of the page.

Other Replys:Looks like your doin a great job!

Other Replys:You should be using tables for tabular data only. You should use CSS for positioning and HTML or XHTML for content only. You have 33 errors in you HTML according to the w3C validation tool and are not using any CSS stylesheets.

Overall the site shows up pretty in Firefox but I would not ask for the worlds opinion prior to validating my source code for errors and I would also be sure to write the source code in one of the Strict formats as well personally.

Calling it a project to me infers your either doing it for school or work either way I would be sure to follow the strictest I could of the international standards that way others could not degrade my design or programming skills. It will also make it a lot easier to make the site cross browser compatible.

Other Replys:the overall look is alright just need to work on your coding a bit, you have no doctype, which in turn brings up 35 error on your coding. You have missed a couple of %26quot; and %26gt;here and there. Also make it so that the music can be turned off and on. I like to listen to tunes when i surf the net so having a website start playing music on top spoils it a little! But keep up the good work.

Other Replys:Amateurish and awful. Violates several good design and common sense principles. Does not validate.

like for a normal html page such as www.indisax.com

What do you think are resonable prices for web design?

It is generally done by estimating the number of hours you will spend on the project then multiply that by approximately $50 per hour rate.

Sites that allows user input or other more complext stuff could go for higher rate.

You could also negotiate continuous services like periodic content update and traffic reports into the package.

negotiable

I have new product that I sell on line. I paid to have my web page constructed. If anyone knows anything about web pages, could you please review my site and page and let me know if it is easy to understand. Sometimes I think that I get too close to the product and need to know if someone who knows nothing about Design Plan In A Can can get the inforation they need from the site. Is it self explainitory? Any thoughts or reccomendations would be greatly appreciated. My web site is www.designplaninacan.com

I have a new web site for my business, I have paid to have my web page constructed. Does it make sense to you?

Wow - that is a REALLY busy home page. It also isn%26#039;t framed or tabled in such a way. You really want the home page to be sort of a brief explanation without being to gunked up so the person viewing it is overloaded.

I would actually see if the person making your site could make it so:

A. You don%26#039;t have to scroll left-right or top-bottom on the home page. Its fine in the content but not on the home page which is your first impression.

B. Limit the art and pictures. Too much can be confusing.

C. Take the Call to order bit and put it either in the header or the footer.

D. Limit the menus - looks like you have 4 or 5 going on. No one will know which is which. You can use a top menu, like you have for the main categories and a side bar for ideas and services.

E. The corporate stuff on the right hand side, make that like an affiliate page or something or spread them out through the site. Use something like an Ad Rotator (ASP.NET has a nice tool for that but I%26#039;m sure there%26#039;s a PHP or ASP serverlet you can get for free.)

The colors are good - they are very consistent and work well together, I just think you have WAY too much on the home page and its going to confuse the buyer. Put the pertinent stuff up front (on the home page) and then spread everything else out through the site.

I have a new web site for my business, I have paid to have my web page constructed. Does it make sense to you?

Get someone that dosen%26#039;t know much about computers and see if they can figure it out

Other Replys:on the left the, collection click below to view the categories could be more easy to read.(arts and craft island tones) maybe to much going on as well keep in simple

Other Replys:It%26#039;s easy enough to understand, though I do have some suggestions:

1. The main page is really crowded and busy. Way too much going on, too many fonts, and distracting animated graphics. Cursive fonts are almost never a good choice for web pages.

2. You need to decide, is your site primarily for promoting your own product or for promoting your advertisers? If it%26#039;s the former, you really need to tone down the ads on the right. Think about Google ads. All they are is text, and yet Google has built an empire off them. Consider, at the very least, taking out the animated graphics.

3. I would move the quick links and the home plan ad to the bottom of the page, and make the %26quot;collections%26quot; links a single column instead of two. This will clean up the site and make it look less crazed.

Otherwise, it looks good. I understand your product immediately, and the site generally looks professional.

Other Replys:What a great idea! The website was a bit overwhelming at first. My first reaction was that I thought it very confusing and cluttered, but after checking it out and navigating around, I found it to be filled with all sorts of good information.

One thing I noticed though, if you paid a web designer for this, they did a pretty good job, however, they forgot to include a DOCTYPE at the top of the HTML document, which I thought a bit unusual for a professional.

Good luck with the business.

DianeD

Other Replys:I would design the site to 800x600 pixels as most have their browsers set up this way to eliminate a horizontal scroll bar.

Black colour can be nice if it%26#039;s designed right, i think it%26#039;s a little messy. I would put the quick links and ads together with the other menu. If it would be too long horizontaly i would then go with a verticle menu instead.

The script has meta (description %26amp; keywords) tags, which is good.

I design pages as well and i know it hurts when people don%26#039;t like what they see. I%26#039;m just trying to give honest advice.

If you are serious about websites either for personal or your business, don%26#039;t go to free web hosting as they are usually not reliable and you may end up losing all your hard work. Free web hosts usually put advertisements on your websites and it could be annoying.

If you like to create websites (usually you will end up more than 1 website, I got more than 100 websites in about 6 months%26#039; time), go for multiple web hosting services where you could host all your websites in one account.

I would like to suggest following webhosting which I use, they are excellent.

I assume that you simply register the required domain and then upload the complete site using an FTP account.

I also assume that that is the method that you configiure in your software (im not greatly familiar with it).

Assuming that is the way it works, my services are compatible with this, and you can choose between US and UK datacenters, and all hosting plan offer a free domain name or domain transfer in a large number of domain types.
