The only way is to design the page and test it with different browsers and verify the output is correct. When you find problems, hit the web and look for solutions. It is possible to support many browsers, it just takes a lot of work. Sometimes you have to avoid WYSIWYG editors as they rarely put out cross browser compatible code.
