What book would I need to start fixing up my companies website? I was going to get the dummies books. I%26#039;m not sure which one to purchase. Here are the ones I have so far...Web Design for dummies, Web site do-it-yourself for dummies and creating web pages for dummies. Please help maybe there is something better!!!!!!!
Web Sites?
Well most people that say they want to improve a website are typically speaking of what that website looks like not necessarily how the code works or looks. The average web surfer is not concerned with the code as much as the aestetics of the page itself. If you want to make the pages look better you should probably concentrate on improving images, colors and layout. That would indicate you would probably want to get books on color theory, photoshop, illustrator and other aspects of the actual design layout. Most people do not see code in pages they see pictures and words . Those pictures and words can guide the visitors eyes through the content of the web page if presented properly.
If I had to guess what technologies your dealing with I would think your dealing with HTML, CSS, JavaScript as if you were dealing with Flash you probably would have mentioned it.
If you are looking to learn the basics of web design I would suggest books like HTML, XHTML, %26amp; CSS Visual Quickstart guide by Elizabeth Castro and CSS the missing manual by McFarland published by pogue / oreilly.
If you are looking for a great Reference book try Dynamic HTML The definitive resource third edition although it is not a learning book it is hands down the best desk reference I have seen for HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
Web Sites?
it all depends on how advanced this site is going to be as to what book you will need. i don%26#039;t want to offer something basic if you are going to be doing something complex. Also it depends what language you are going to make this site in... html or java or flash or what. %26#039;

Other Replys:Your sooooooo cool trying to impress your boss asking other what to do and then claming your fame. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ha ha ha ha.
Other Replys:If you are going to use HTML you might find pages that you like and select View Source. If they use HTML (and some Java script) , you can see how it is done..
