I would advise you to stick with the Basics, Nothing too fancy (unless requested). The reason is compatability.
I also like to keep the images small because it is more bandwith friendly
When designing Web pages for your company, what are the prime considerations that you would adopt?
First of all, I would first create a color combination. the best color combination you can achieve is looking at the color of the logo of your company. Ofcourse, you%26#039;re not limited with that.
Second is the color limitation, Make it a maximum of 5 colors. And always use a readable font color over background.
Then the concept art. Always look on the other sites. See their cons and pros. Learn from others.
Design what you think is right. The best color for a company website is always white background to light gray, but that%26#039;s just a personal suggestion.
Some of the sites I%26#039;ve created are at the altriontechnologies.com portfolio
here%26#039;s some samples:

http://www.southportclub.com

Avoid too many flash on the site, it tend to drive out visitors (unless its an integral part of your site)

the important factor is colours and table layout and photo copyright - better create a photo by your digital camera and designing -, and housekeeping of files and backup of files.
also, the validity of the information on the website.
minimise animations where possible.
