Trying to pick a colour scheme for my first web site and want something that avoids the cliches and stands out..any help would be much appreciated!...

what kind of website are you building? i can suggest a few for you, cos i don;t know of any such websites! but i;m sure they do exist! besides, i am a developer, and i design websites too!
