I am not a computer wiz, however, I am very creative, and enjoy designing ads, etc. I am wanting to start a couple of online companies and I need websites to go along with them obviously. I have signed up for a couple of college courses that I start next week...a photoshop course and a web page design course. My question is just how difficult is it, and how long does it take to design a medium to highly interactive website?? Thanks for your help!
How hard is website design/development?
Simply designing a nice-looking static page isn%26#039;t very difficult at all, but it can progress much further than that when you get into scripting, particularly server-side.
If you%26#039;re going to start an online company, you%26#039;re likely going to need to get into a server-side language such as PHP and ASP, which involves actual programming as opposed to layout and design that entails HTML and CSS.
Timewise once you know what you%26#039;re doing, designing a site does not take long at all. You can develop a pretty substantial site in a week. although depending on complexity, you%26#039;d need more time for testing.
How hard is website design/development?
Pretty easy really. There are loads of tools nowadays. LAMP setups are pretty standard.

Other Replys:Design AND development (just building a site but not programming) are challenging and there%26#039;s a crapload to learn, like graphic software programs (not to mention having design talent), html and css, accessibility, best practices, content management systems, and knowing javascript and Flash are big pluses. Is it hard? I guess that depends on whether you have a knack for this stuff. Some people do; some don%26#039;t. e.g. I don%26#039;t think it%26#039;s hard, but it requires a lot of work to learn and get really good. But some people will never understand it, just like I won%26#039;t understand physics enough to make a living at it. It sounds like you%26#039;ll take to this stuff so don%26#039;t get discouraged. I%26#039;ve been doing this for a couple of years now and designing the interface of a medium to highly involved site can take me between 8 and 16 hours, not including research time. Then when our team builds it, it could be 40 hrs on the low end to 3-4 mos to complete (though we%26#039;re not working on it every day).

Other Replys:Hi, there is a Nero 8 program out there with a tutorial built in to take you stet by step. they also have a trial program... By the way I still say Fla is the best here or Greece in the spring ....
