Is this how web design works?

I%26#039;m using the evrsoft 1st page for some simple tooling around with web design. I%26#039;ve noticed that I can%26#039;t simply drag and drop an object anywhere on the page, but that I have to space everything out almost like a Word document... is this how all programs operate? What ones allow more freedom of movement within the page?

If that doesn%26#039;t make sense, let me know and I%26#039;ll add more... thanks...

try placing objects on a layer. a layer can freely be moved around your page.

you need to do the tutorials on web programming.

but to answer your questions you need to use tables.

not familiar with eversoft. however the wisiwyg program I have allows a tool to make tables.

Other Replys:Web Design, unfortunately, does NOT work with any WYSIWYG editors, but with a good graphic program, such as Photoshop, a good Flash program if you want animations, and an EXCELLENT CODER, working ONLY with a text editor.

You have to be TWO people: an artist, the Designer that make %26quot;nice things%26quot;, and a programmer, the Coder that makes the site WORK.

Either one missing, and you will rejoin the multitude of amateurs...

Unfortunate, but that is the way it is.

And, since the advent of %26quot;Web 2.0%26quot;, requiring full interactivity and DEMANDED by any serious client, thousands of amateurs are back to the drawing board... or going to the employment office.

Other Replys:I am not familiar with the program you are using. However, web application design if often a mixed bag of different things. There are some WYSIWYG editors for HTML. However, it is often necessary to tweak these pages to get exactly what you want.

More specifically, you seem to be asking about placing elements on the page. There are a few ways to do this to a degree. I don%26#039;t know of any programs where you can specifically put items exactly where you want them. HTML just does not work that way.

Using tables is the old method of placing and aligning items and is still widely used.

You can also use DIVs and layers to position things on a page.

You are right that designing a web page is something like using Word. They are all like that to some extent.
